The Department of Pain Medicine, Palliative Care, and Integrative Medicine at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is seeking a pediatric physician in palliative care and pain medicine. The successful applicant would be a full-time consultant physician joining an interdisciplinary team providing care for patients from infancy through adolescence with pain & palliative care/hospice needs. The physician will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, including: physicians, MD fellows, advanced practice registered nurses, nurses, social workers, psychologists, child life specialist, massage therapists, physical therapists, integrative medicine providers plus support/administrative staff. The continuity-focused practice environment includes caring for patients in both the Minneapolis and St. Paul hospitals, outpatient clinics, and in the home-based palliative and hospice programs.
This position will include rotating on-call responsibilities shared amongst a group of clinicians. Good communication skills, flexibility and a desire to learn together with the interdisciplinary team are a must. There are opportunities within the department to participate in research, education, & quality improvement. This includes a system-wide Lean Value-Stream project: “The Children’s Comfort Promise: We promise do to everything to prevent and treat pain.” The department also hosts the ACGME accredited Pediatric track of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician fellowship in collaboration with the University of Minnesota.
This exciting and well-established team is looking for a board certified pediatrics or medicine/pediatrics trained MD or DO. The successful applicant would be board certified or board eligible in hospice & palliative medicine and/or pain medicine. Experienced candidates with an excellent skill set in managing children with complex and chronic conditions and a self-motivated learning style may also apply and would then be mentored through our program.
The Department of Pain, Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine is one of the largest and most comprehensive programs of its kind in the country. Palliative care and hospice services provides holistic, multidisciplinary care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families in the hospital, clinic and at home.
